The Balance Study
The Balance Study
The Balance Study is for people with a
genetic predisposition for being overweight.

If you have difficulty losing weight and keeping it off, and you are over the age of 18, you could be eligible to participate in a screening research study to determine if you pre-qualify for the Balance Study (main study). The Balance Study is for people with a genetic predisposition to being overweight.

In order to determine if you have this genetic profile, first we would like to send you an at-home testing kit, and secondly determine if you possibly qualify for the Balance Study (main study). All Balance Study participants may receive compensation of up to $7,800 and also may receive an investigational drug for weight loss. You will not be compensated for participating in the initial screening research study.

You may qualify to participate in the Balance Study (main study) if you:
  • Have genes that may cause obesity
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of at least 30
  • Do not have diabetes
  • Have not had weight-loss surgery
The Balance Study will require you to remain at a research facility for either 17 or 31 consecutive days.

If you are interested in finding out more about this research study and receiving the testing kit to see if you pre-qualify, please complete the confidential pre-screening questionnaire by clicking below:
